Clover - Our People

OUR PEOPLE

Clover is the biggest employer in the dairy industry in South Africa and is particularly proud of the approximately 6300 employees that have made Clover their "home away from home". Clover's history goes back more than a hundred years and one of the contributing factors to our success over these years is the quality and loyalty of the Clover people. It is through the contributions of our people that we can continuously strive to improve our service to our customers and become more competitive in the markets where we compete. We are convinced that our people will also be the single biggest contributor to Clover's future growth, profitability and excellence.

Therefore we strive to establish a pleasant and motivating work climate where employees are treated fairly and are provided with the skills, ability and tools to do their job. We believe in teamwork and actively work towards solid collaboration across business units and departments. Speed of execution, passion and commitment are encouraged at all levels, as we believe that these give the company a competitive advantage.

To meet the business's current and future requirements it is important that we unlock the potential of all our people. Individual aspirations are supported by purposeful and focussed training and development while attending to realistic and equitable career planning.
To be a leading and competitive company in South Africa and selected African countries, reaching every consumer on a daily basis with its most admired branded and trusted products, delivering improved and sustainable shareholder value by being a responsible corporate citizen and preferred employer.

Training and Development

Clover's strength is in the specific emphasis placed on skills training. It is an important focus of the company and substantial time and money are spent on improving management and technical skills. As a major dairy company we are registered with the Food and Beverage Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA), which opens a whole range of new learnership opportunities. Training and development initiatives are aligned with the company strategy and the details of the diverse range of investments are contained in the Workplace Skills Plan.

Recruitment and Career Development

As the market leader, Clover plays a major role in establishing structures for attracting and retaining human capital. Special attention is paid to selection and promotion of the right people in the right positions. Through a talent management process we compile individual development programmes which help prepare emplyees for appointment to critical positions within the organisation.

Our staff are our most valuable resource and their growth within Clover is one of our priorities. Therefore, Clover has a policy of advertising vacancies internally. External recruitment is dependent on special circumstances and these positions are usually advertised in the mass media and not on this website.
