Surromel. Milk Replacer for Lambs
Surromel is a milk replacer that was developed after intensive research had been done. The product is specially formulated to provide full rations to young lambs during the first few weeks after birth. Surromel may be used to raise hand-fed lambs, surplus lambs and prematurely weaned lambs.
- Surromel is a high energy milk replacer with a minimum fat content of 12%.
- Surromel is unique in that it can keep for at least three days in prepared form.
- Surromel is an acidulated product with a low pH value that facilitates its long-life potential.

Characteristics of Surromel
- Labour saving: Large quantities of milk replacer can be mixed at the same time and the whole ration can be put out once a day.
- Management is facilitated: Feeding does not have to be done at the busiest time of the day and hot water is eliminated. On Sundays, lambs only have to be inspected as rations do not have to be distributed more than once on a weekend.
- Less diarrhoea: Overfilling the abomasum is prevented and the growth of harmful bacteria is counteracted.
- Cold water: Surromel is mixed with normal tap water. Thus feeding temperature is kept constant. Varying temperatures will have a detrimental effect on lambs.

Directions
Mix 2 to 2,2 kg milk replacer with 10 litres of water. There are two recommended methods:
- Pour the desired volume of cold tap water into a clean container. Then add the measured quantity of Surromel and mix well.
- Add the Surromel to approximately a quarter of the required water and stir until the mixture has a smooth, creamy texture. Add the rest of the water and stir well.
N.B. In both cases: Always add the Surromel powder to the water.
