Statement With Regard To The Use Of rBST

It is Clover's policy that no milk received from a producer whose herd is treated with rBST will be purchased. Clover's producers are aware of this policy since 1992, although it is not illegal in South Africa. Internationally, the Food and Drug Administration based in the United States (“FDA”) and the World Trade Organisation has not challenged the use of rBST as research conducted by the FDA concluded that there is no basis to substantiate that milk from cows treated with rBST is unsafe for human consumption.

Despite the debate both locally and internationally, this policy was adopted by the board of directors of Clover Industries Limited to take cognisance of the consumer’s views with regard to the concerns surrounding the use of rBST.
