Clover Frankfort
Clover Frankfort is situated in the North Eastern Freestate town of Frankfort next to the Wilge River.
Products manufactured at Frankfort include:
- Ghee, which is manufactured from pure butter products that are heated to obtain separation between fat and water, salt and milk solids. Ghee is packed in 1,5 kg buckets. The product contains no preservatives. Ghee has a fine crumbly texture, a light straw colour and a slight caramel taste.
- Roller Dried Full Cream Milk Powder, is manufactured by the spray drying of full cream cow's milk on a roller dryer. The product has a dark cream colour with a caramelised taste. Roller dried milk powder is used as a raw material in the confectionary market.
- Salted and Unsalted Butter, which is manufactured from cream derived from pure cow's milk. The cream is pasteurised, crystallised for 8 hours and churned to butter before packaging takes place and is packed in the following pack sizes; 8g, 250g, 227g, 500g and 25kg tub, perkament and foil packaging.
The Factory Is SABS ISO9002 and HAZZOP accredited
Various products are packed under contract for well known chain stores. Bulk butter is used in the standardisation of butterfat for condensed milk and maas. It is also used for the manufacture of ice cream and in the baking industry.
General Information
Frankfort is situated next to the Wilge River, which forms part of the Hoogland Water Scheme. Frankfort is Clover's only butter factory and it is the largest butter factory in the country.
