The following is one of the mouthwatering recipes using Clover ingredients.

Onion Tart with Cheddar Crust

This recipe appeared in Week 3 of Nataniël's Festive Kitchen cooking program.

Ingredients

12 baby onions, quartered
1tbsp Clover Butter
1 sheet puff pastry
1cup Clover Cheddar Cheese, grated
2tbsp Clover Plain Cream Cheese
4 sprigs of thyme
freshly ground black pepper

Preparation method
  • In saucepan, heat onions and butter and let simmer over very low heat. Let cool.
  • Place pastry on floured surface
  • Cover one half with cheddar and fold other half over
  • Roll out until original; size
  • Cut large circle of pastry and place in baking tray
  • Spread with cream cheese, leaving a border of about 5 cm
  • Sprinkle with thyme and spoon onions over
  • Fold pastry border over onions
  • Bake at 180˚C until golden brown
  • Season with pepper and serve warm
