Chairman's Summary

"The financial year under review has proved to be one of two halves, the final outcome being the best results in the 110-year history of the Company. The first half of the year was initially very buoyant, with excellent results, but by mid-year the effect of consumers’ reduced disposable income was starting to have a negative impact on sales. The second half of the year has proved difficult and only some very creative planning and implementation by Management has allowed the ultimate positive outcome to be achieved."
