Clover - Trans Fat Regulations

CLOVER PRODUCTS UNAFFECTED BY TRANS-FAT REGULATIONS

The regulations relating to trans-fat in foodstuffs, R. 127, of the Foodstuff, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act of 1972, which will come into effect on 17 August 2011, are only applicable to “industrially produced trans-fatty acids.”

Natural trans-fatty acids which occur in meat and milk from cows and other ruminant animals are not subject to regulations. All Clover products are constantly tested and comply with all foodstuff legislations.

The trans-fatty acids occurring in a number of Clover products, including Butro, are natural and not as a result of any industrial manipulation or processes. Therefore, the regulations relating to trans-fat in foodstuffs which are coming into effect on 17 August 2011 will not have an effect on Clover products.

The regulations state that in any produce intended for human consumption, „trans-fat‟ content may not exceed 2g per 100 g of oil or fat. The regulation further states that the term „trans-fat‟ refers to only “industrially produced trans-fatty acids.”
