Tip: Children like to nibble, especially on starches such as chips. Here are a few alternatives to keep them from going to the tuck-shop for the popcorn-and-potato variety. Add a tub of their favourite Clover Cream Cheese for a dip!

- 3 small brinjals
- salt
- freshly ground black pepper
- 125ml Parmesan, grated
- oil for deep-frying


1. Cut brinjals into thin slices. 2. Sprinkle with salt and leave on drying rack for 30 minutes. Pat dry with kitchen paper. 3. Deep-fry chips. Watch them carefully. 4. Drain on kitchen paper, then sprinkle with pepper and Parmesan. 5. Add a tub of their favourite Clover Cream Cheese for a dip
