The older they get, the bigger their appetites become. We're not talking about obesity here, but it definitely takes a bit more to stop their stomachs from grumbling during a lesson. Here are a few items that can be taken out of the day box and snuck into the desk to be eaten behind the hand while the teacher's back is turned.

- 500g cake flour
- 2ml cream of tartar
- 2ml baking soda
- 500g Clover butter
- 500g Fox & Crow Mature Cheddar, finely grated


1. Sift dry ingredients together. 2. Rub in butter until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. 3. Add grated cheese and form into a ball. 4. Cover with cling-wrap and place in refrigerator until cold - about 30 minutes. 5. Remove and roll out on a lightly floured surface. 6. Cut into rounds with a cookie cutter. 7. Place in patty pans and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15 - 20 minutes, until just golden. 8. Remove and allow to cool. 9. Serve with a filling of smooth apricot jam Tip: Be careful not to overbake, or the biscuits will become bitter
