Heat the butter in a heavy-based frying pan.
Add the onion and garlic and sauté until onion is translucent.
Add the spices and cook for 2 - 3 minutes or until fragrant.
Remove from heat and transfer to a mixing bowl.
Allow to cool.
Add the minced beef and remaining ingredients to the onion mix.
Mix well with a fork.
Take handfuls of mince and shape into patties.
Grill over moderate heat in a preheated griddle pan for 5 - 10 minutes or until cooked.
Serve topped with a dollop of beetroot tzatziki and a side dish of choice.
