The Cornerstones of Milk Supply to Clover
In an increasingly volatile dairy industry, it’s good to know there’s one dairy company that keeps its promises to its producers and consumers alike: Clover. For you as the milk producer, this means you can count on a solid supply agreement to protect your interests.
When you add Clover's vast infrastructure to our experience as Africa's largest milk processor, along with the national distribution of our products through the country's largest chilled distribution network, becoming a Clover supplier is the answer to every milk producer's needs. No wonder the cream of South Africa's milk producers choose to supply milk to Clover!
More Than 100 Years
Clover and the milk producer have shared common interests for more than a century. In fact, Clover's origins can be traced back to a meeting of milk producers in the Mooi River district in 1898, with the aim of starting a butter factory in what was then the province of Natal. Headed by milk producers, the organisation that resulted was registered as National Co-operative Dairies (NCD) in 1943. NCD grew to become the largest dairy group in South Africa and in November 2003 the conversion of the co-operative to a public company was approved by the board of directors.
This paved the way for us at Clover to become a listed Company on 14 December 2010, and although we have to work in a highly competitive listed environment, milk production is still close to our heart. Read more about Clover's history by clicking here.
