TROPIKA ISLAND OF TREASURE SEASON 10 ALL STARS CALL TO ENTER COMPETITION – RULES
Important clauses which may limit our responsibility, place an obligation on you to indemnify us, involve an acknowledgement of any fact or involve some risk for you will be in bold and italics. You must pay special attention to these clauses.
1.1. The Tropika Island of Treasure Season 10 All Stars Competition (“Competition“) is being run by
Clover S.A Proprietary Limited, Registration Number 1994/001064/07 (“Organiser/we/us/our”).
1.2. Each person entering the Competition (“participants/entrants/you/your“) and/or accepting any prize in terms of this Competition, agrees and accepts that the Competition rules as set out in these terms and conditions (“Rules”) is binding on him or her. It being further acknowledged that the Organiser may provide for additional rules for the Competition, including without limitation any rules applicable during the Programme Competition (as defined below) and which rules shall be binding on the entrants.
1.3. The Competition shall consist of (a) the chance for entrants to win prizes, as described in these Rules (“Instant Prize Competition”) and (b) to be part of the Tropika Island of Treasure Season 10 All Stars programme, to take place in the Republic of South Africa (“South Africa”) and, depending on how far in the programme a participant gets to, an international destination to be determined by the sole discretion of the Organiser (“Island”) (the location of the programme shall be at the sole discretion of the Organiser) (“Programme Competition”). The Programme Competition shall consist of various episodes in which those entrants selected to participate compete in challenges and/or tasks (some of which may be physical challenges and/or tasks), with participants being eliminated from the Programme Competition from time to time.
1.4. Copies of these Rules are available online at www.clover.co.za and www.tropika.co.za (“Website”) or at Clover Park, 200 Constantia Drive, Constantia Kloof.
2. COMPETITION PERIOD
2.1. The Instant Prize Competition and the time to enter the Programme Competition commenced at 00:01 on 19 March 2022 and was initially going to close at 23:59 on 31 May 2022, however, the Organiser has extended this to close at 25:59 on 30 June 2022 (“Competition Period”). No entries received after the end of the Competition Period will be considered.
2.2. During the Competition Period, auditions for the Programme Competition will also be received and no auditions received after the end of the Competition Period will be considered. However, the period of the Programme Competition and thus the period in which the participants shall be competing in the Programme Competition shall be determined in the sole discretion of the Organiser and as communicated to the participants selected from time to time.
3. WHO CAN ENTER
3.1. In order to be eligible to enter the Competition you must:
3.1.1. be a legal, permanent resident of South Africa and a citizen of South Africa;
3.1.2. be in possession of a valid identity document with a 13 (thirteen) digit identity number;
3.1.3. be 18 (eighteen) years old or older on the date you enter or, if you are younger than 18 (eighteen) years of age, you must be assisted to the extent necessary by a parent and/ or legal guardian;
3.1.4. be a natural person; and
3.1.5. not be barred or disqualified by any authority from taking delivery and transfer of the prizes to be won during the Competition or any portion thereof.
3.2. Notwithstanding clause 3.1, you are not eligible to enter this Competition if:
3.2.1. you are a director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant of the Organisers, or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Organisers;
3.2.2. you are an immediate family member of any of the persons specified in clause 3.2.1; or
3.2.3. you are a supplier of goods or services in connection with the Competition.
4. HOW TO ENTER THE INSTANT PRIZE COMPETITION
4.1. Purchase a promotional pack of Tropika being (a) 1 litre and 200 ml Tropika UHT products and (b) 2 litre, 1.5 litre, 500 ml and 330 ml Tropika fresh products (“Product”) and find the unique code.
4.2. The unique code can be found on the purchased Products under the cap, under the product label or on the under-side of a peel and reveal sticker or label, depending on the product.
4.3. Once you find the unique code, dial the USSD string: *120*8767*UniqueCode# on your cell phone and follow the prompts.
4.4. Should you find the word “treasure” under the caps of a purchased Product you stand a stance to win a share of the grand prizes set out below in clause 5.2.2 and should there be no word “treasure” under the caps of a Purchased Product you only stand a chance to win a share of the prizes out in clause 5.2.1. No prizes are guaranteed to any entrant.
4.5. You may enter the Instant Prize Competition as many times as you like, provided you use a different unique Product code per entry as found on purchased Products. In other words, there is only one entry per Product purchased.
4.6. Entrants may be requested by or on behalf of the Organiser to produce a valid receipt and/or till slip as proof of purchasing the Product with the relevant unique code used for the entry.
4.7. Each entry submitted will be charged at 20c (twenty cents) per 20 (twenty) seconds. Free minutes do not apply to the entries. Cost of each entry for the Instant Prize Competition over USSD will however not exceed R1.50 (one rand and fifty cents) in total.
5. DETERMINATION OF PRIZES
5.1. Winners of the Instant Prize Competition will be drawn randomly from correct entries received by means of an instant automated system throughout the Competition Period. Winners are, therefore, determined instantly on submission of their entries.
5.2. Entrants stand a chance to win a share of:
5.2.1. if there is no word “treasure” under the cap of a purchase Product:
126.96.36.199. R 150,000.00 (one hundred and fifty thousand rand) worth of airtime prizes, made up of 5,000 x R30 airtime vouchers (“Airtime Prizes”); and
188.8.131.52. R 100,000.00 (one hundred thousand rand) in UBER vouchers made up of 1000 x R100.00 UBER vouchers (“UBER Prizes“); and
184.108.40.206. if there is the word “treasure” under the cap of a purchase Product, 10 Grand Prizes, of:
220.127.116.11. an AEG Gas Hob to the value of no more than approximately R7,000;
18.104.22.168. a single door Fridge to the value of no more than approximately R5,000;
22.214.171.124. an Adidas voucher to the value of no more than approximately R10,000;
126.96.36.199. a double bed Rest Assured Bed to the value of no more than approximately R10,000;
188.8.131.52. a double bed Rest Assured Bed to the value of no more than approximately R10,000;
184.108.40.206. a double bed Rest Assured Bed to the value of no more than approximatelyR10,000;
220.127.116.11. a Suzuki Product to the value of no more than approximately R250,000;
18.104.22.168. a UBER voucher to the value of no more than R10,000;
22.214.171.124. a UBER voucher to the value of no more than R10,000; and
126.96.36.199. a three nights trip to the Republic of the Seychelles for two, including economy flights, to the value of no more than approximately R25,000.
5.3. The Organiser reserves the right at any time, in its sole discretion, to exchange any of the prizes set out above for any other prizes of similar value.
5.4. Any Competition prize that is in the form of a voucher is only valid and can only be redeemed by the winners for a period of 1 year, as commencing on 1 April 2022 (regardless of when the Competition prize is won or provided to the winner). Should any voucher expire before it is used by the winner, any remaining amount on the voucher shall expire and the Organisers shall not be liable to provide an additional voucher to the winner.
5.5. The Competition prizes are not transferrable from the prize winners to any other person and may not be exchanged for its cash value, except if otherwise stipulated in these Rules.
5.6. Any taxes associated with the receipt of any prizes shall be for the account of the winner.
6. DELIVERY OF PRIZES
6.1. Airtime Prizes
6.1.1. Winners of the Airtime Prizes will receive an SMS notification that they have won a share of the Airtime Prizes and which SMS shall be sent to the cellular phone number used to enter the Instant Prize Competition.
6.1.2. The SMS referred to above shall also confirm the value of the airtime that the winner has. A second SMS, with the airtime voucher with dial-in instructions on how to redeem the airtime, will be sent to the cellular phone number used to enter the Instant Prize Competition.
6.1.3. Any Airtime Prize may be redeemed by PRE-PAID account holders of the following networks only – Vodacom / MTN / Cell C / Virgin Mobile / Telkom Mobile.
6.1.4. Winners with contract accounts can transfer the Airtime Prize to any other pre-paid number of their choice (by SMSing the winner SMS to the desired recipient), provided that the pre-paid number is on the same network as the winner.
6.2.1. Winners of the UBER Prizes will receive an SMS notification that they have won a share of the UBER Prizes and which SMS shall be sent to the cellular phone number used to enter the Instant Prize Competition.
6.2.2. The SMS referred to above shall also contain a voucher PIN which can be used to redeem the UBER Prize.
6.2.3. UBER vouchers shall only be effective for a period of 1 years as commencing on 1 April 2022 (regardless of when the voucher is won or provided to the winner). Should the UBER voucher expire before it is used by the winner, any remaining amount on the voucher shall expire and the Organisers shall not be liable to provide an additional voucher to the winner.
6.3. 10 Grand Prizes
6.3.1. The Organiser and/or an authorised third party of the Organiser shall contact the winners of the grand prizes on the cellular phone number used to enter the Instant Prize Competition, informing them that they have won the relevant grand prize.
188.8.131.52. the Organiser and/or an authorised third party of the Organiser not be able to get hold of the winner on the cellular phone number used to enter the Instant Prize Competition; and/or
184.108.40.206. the winner inform the Organiser and/or an authorised third party of the Organiser that they do not accept the relevant grand prize; and/or
220.127.116.11. the winner not accept the grand prize and/or refuse to provide the Organiser and/or an authorised third party of the Organiser an address in South Africa at which the grand prize can be delivered, when the winner is contacted by the Organiser and/or an authorised third party of the Organiser; and/or
18.104.22.168. the winner not accept the delivery of the grand prize at the nominated address in South Africa,
the winner shall be deemed to have not accepted the grand prize.
6.3.3. If a grand prize is accepted by a winner of the grand prize, the Organiser and/or an authorised third party of the Organiser shall arrange for the delivery of the grand prize to any address in South Africa as nominated by the winner.
7. TROPIKA ISLAND OF TREASURE SEASON 10 ALL STARS CONTESTANT AUDITIONS & PARTICIPATION
Entrants may select to submit their auditions either through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp and/or USSD link as set out below.
7.2. Facebook, Instagram or Twitter
7.2.1. Entrants may post their video auditions on Facebook @Tropika], Instagram @MyTropika and/or Twitter @MyTropika using the hashtag #Tropika and tell us why they should join us on the island.
7.2.2. All social media channels will have their own respective links via which the entrants auditions can be submitted.
7.2.3. The purpose of each channel having their own link is to assist the brand in tracking the most popular channels.
7.2.4. Once the link has been clicked on, the entrant will enter an authentication mechanic which will help protect the entrant’s details and ensure that the entrant submitting the content is indeed the entrant in question.
7.2.5. Content and audition material cannot be submitted on behalf of someone else.
7.2.6. Submissions to these platforms will be assessed and entrants chosen in the sole discretion of the Organiser. All chosen entrants will be contacted telephonically on the cellular phone number provided by the entrant.
7.2.7. Alternatively entrants may submit their auditions via each of the above platforms by clicking on the respective links below as part of the creative elements associated with those channels:

7.2.8. The cost of submitting auditions via any of the social media platforms mentioned above is for the account of the entrant.
7.3. Direct to WhatsApp
7.3.1. Entrants may submit video auditions by adding the Tropika Island of Treasure WhatsApp number to their contact list, refreshing their contacts and kick-off the WhatsApp chain with a message like “Hi”, which will initiate a response. The Tropika Island of Treasure WhatsApp number is 082 857 8054.
7.3.2. Once entrants enter the WhatsApp environment and initiate a conversation, they will be presented with a link (being tmarc.me/c/r/TIOT10) via which their auditions can be submitted.
7.3.3. Once the link has been clicked on the entrant will enter an authentication mechanic which will help protect the entrant’s details and ensure that the entrant submitting the content is indeed the entrant in question.
7.3.4. Content and audition material cannot be submitted on behalf of someone else.
7.3.5. Submissions via WhatsApp will be assessed and entrants chosen in the sole discretion of the Organiser. All chosen contestants will be contacted telephonically on the cellular phone number provided by the entrant.
7.3.6. The cost of submitting auditions via WhatsApp is for the account of the entrant.
7.4. USSD Link
7.4.1. Entrants who enter the on-pack USSD campaign by dialling *120*8767*UniqueCode# will receive an SMS with the relevant link to which they can submit their audition content to.
7.4.2. Once the link has been clicked on the entrant will enter an authentication mechanic which will help protect the entrant’s details and ensure that the entrant submitting the content is indeed the entrant in question.
7.4.3. Content and audition material cannot be submitted on behalf of someone else.
7.4.4. Submissions via the link provided after the USSD session is completed, will be assessed and entrants chosen in the sole discretion of the Organiser. All chosen entrants will be contacted.
7.4.5. The cost of submitting auditions in terms of this clause 7.4 is for the account of the entrant.
7.5.1. In order to be eligible for section as contestants in the Programme Competition, entrants must:
220.127.116.11. be a legal, permanent resident of South Africa and a citizen of South Africa;
18.104.22.168. be in possession of a valid identity document with a 13 (thirteen) digit identity number;
22.214.171.124. be 18 (eighteen) years of age or older in order, at the date on which you submit your audition;
126.96.36.199. have a valid Passport, which shall remain valid for at least 6 (six) months from 1 May 2022 and has at least 2 (two) clear pages.
188.8.131.52. not be barred from (a) travelling to the Island and/or (b) from or to any airline, accommodation or activity or destination within South Africa. Any travel requirements may include any mandatory vaccination and/ or other requirements of any competent authority in South Africa and/ or the Island; and
184.108.40.206. be available to travel to and to participate in the Programme Competition in South Africa from 3 July 2022 until 8 July 2022 and at the Island from 27 August 2022 until 8 September 2022. The above- mentioned dates being only the anticipated filming dates and the Organiser may, in its sole and absolute discretion, change the said dates and locations.
7.5.2. Notwithstanding clause 7.5.1, you are not eligible to enter the Programme Competition if:
220.127.116.11. you are a director, member, partner, employee, agent or consultant of the Organisers, or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Organisers;
18.104.22.168. you are an immediate family member of any of the persons specified in clause 22.214.171.124; or
126.96.36.199. you are a supplier of goods or services in connection with the Competition.
7.6. Compliance and consents
7.6.1. By selecting to make yourself available to be considered for the Programme Competition, you confirm and agree that:
188.8.131.52. you shall comply with all applicable laws in relation to the Programme Competition and your participation therein (including in terms of any traveling laws and regulations); and
184.108.40.206. you shall comply with protocols and/or policies of South Africa, the Island, the Organiser and/or any third party contractor of the Organiser in connection with the Programme Competition (including any health and safety policies and protocols in relation to COVID-19),
and the Organiser shall not be liable for any compliance by you with the above.
7.7. By selecting to make yourself available to be considered for the Programme Competition, you consent and agree to your name, image, video submission and all content of your audition and contact details being collected, used, stored and processed by the Organisers for purposes of the Programme Competition as well as its audition process.
7.8. You acknowledge that the Organiser may use audition material for publicity purposes and/ or to broadcast as part of the Programme Competition and/or marketing by the Organiser. By submitting your audition and/or participating in the Programme Competition you acknowledge that the Organiser will own intellectual property rights (including copyright) to any such material which may include your participation (“your contribution”). You irrevocably consent and agree to the Organiser using, editing, broadcasting, publishing and/or exploiting your contribution in any media in perpetuity throughout the world and without any compensation to you. By submitting your audition and/or participating in the Programme Competition, you waive any intellectual property rights to your contribution to and in favour of the Organiser (including any moral rights to your content).
7.9. Format of the Programme Competition and Celebrities
7.9.1. The format of the Programme Competition, how entrants selected to participate in the Programme Competition shall compete in the Programme Competition, the tasks and challenges involved and whether or not a competition entrant competes by him/herself or in a pair or in a team shall be determined in the sole discretion of the Organizer from time to time (“Programme Format”).
7.9.2. Entrants who are determined by the Organiser, in its sole discretion, from the auditions to compete in the Programme Competition may, in the sole discretion of the Organizer, compete by themselves, together with one or more other entrants or may compete with a celebrity contestant that is selected at the sole discretion of the Organiser (“Celebrity”).
7.9.3. By electing to participate in the Programme Competition, you agree that the selection of the Celebrity and/or any other entrants to compete with you in the Programme Competition and/or a particular task and/or challenge is at the sole discretion of the Organiser and that you will not be entitled to select which entrant and/or Celebrity you participate with (if any).
7.9.4. Should any Celebrity and/or entrant be paired with another entrant and/or Celebrity the pair shall be referred to as a “Competing Pair”.
7.9.5. Should any Celebrity and/or entrant be grouped in a team of at least 3 people, the group shall be referred to as a “Competing Group”.
7.9.6. From time to time, the Organiser may determine, in its sole discretion, to select additional Celebrities to participate with the other entrants, Celebrities, Competing Pairs and/or Competing Group (“Additional Celebrities”) in special filming sessions and/or particular challenges (“Special Sessions”).
7.10.1. The prizes that an entrant stands a chance to win in the Programme Competition may, at the discretion of the Organizer consist of:
220.127.116.11. special prizes that the Organiser may, from time to time and in its sole discretion, elect to form part of the Programme Competition. It being acknowledged by you that these are discretional prizes and the Organiser provides no guarantee that such special prizes shall be offered during the Programme Competition (“Special Prizes”); and
18.104.22.168. a shared cash prize of R1 000 000.00.
7.10.2. The following is applicable in relation to the winning of any prizes set out in clause 7.10.1:
22.214.171.124. the shared cash prize of R1 000 000.00 shall be shared equally between the persons making up the overall and final winning Competing Pair of the Programme Competition;
126.96.36.199. depending on the Programme Format applicable, as determine by the Organizer, Special Prizes (if any) may in the sole discretion of the Organizer:
188.8.131.52.1. be available to be won by any Celebrity, Additional Celebrity and/or participating entrant individually rather than being shared with another Celebrity, Additional Celebrity and/or participating entrant; or
184.108.40.206.2. be available to be won by a Competing Pair and/or a Competing Group (as the case may be), in which case the Special Prize shall be shared equally between the persons making up the Competing Pair and/or Competing Group.
7.10.3. Should any Additional Celebrity be elected to participate in Special Sessions, may at the discretion of the Organizer be entitled to share in any Special Prizes that may be won by the Competing Pair and/or Competing Group the Additional Celebrity was participating with.
7.10.4. Any taxes associated with the receipt of any prizes shall be for the account of the winners.
7.11. Determination of the Programme Completion contestants
7.11.1. The Organiser shall, in its sole discretion select a certain number of persons to potentially participate in the Programme Competition (“Potential Contestants”).
7.11.2. The Potential Contestants shall be selected from the valid auditions submitted in terms of these Rules and will be invited to attend a final audition in Johannesburg on 30 June 2022.
7.11.3. The Organiser shall provide flights for such persons to attend the said audition where necessary. The selected persons must however cover their own airport transfers to the venue and any other costs to attend the final auditions.
7.11.4. The Organiser shall in its sole discretion select the number of and manner in which Potential Contestants will be invited to participate in the Programme Competition. The said persons will be determined in their sole and unfettered discretion of the Organiser.
7.11.5. The Organiser reserves the right to select a different entrant should any selected entrant for any reason be unable or unwilling to attend and participate in the Programme Competition.
7.12. Participation in TIOT 10 and disqualification
7.12.1. Should you be invited as a contestant for the Programme Competition, you will be provided with a Contestant Participation Agreement that will stipulate the specific terms and conditions for participation in the Programme Competition. Your participation in the Programme Competition will be subject to you agreeing to and signing the Contestant Participation Agreement.
7.12.2. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any participant from the Programme Competition for any reason whatsoever, including for breaches of these Rules and/or the Contestant Participation Agreement and/or any other rules determined by the Organiser from time to time.
7.12.3. You further acknowledge you may be eliminated from the Programme Competition in terms of the Programme Format and relevant rules applicable.
8. GENERAL TERMS
8.1. The Organiser may in its sole discretion amend these Rules at any time, without notice, and such amendment(s) shall be deemed to have taken effect from the date of publication of the revised Rules on the Website.
8.2. The Organiser will interpret these Rules in its sole discretion and reserve the right to amend the Rules at any time should it be deemed necessary in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Organiser.
8.3. If you are not eligible to enter the Competition in terms these Rules, you will forfeit any prize that may be allocated to you in terms of the Competition. The Organiser reserve the right to request you to provide necessary proof that you have met the eligibility requirements. Should you fail to provide such proof within a reasonable time, you will be disqualified and any prizes will be forfeited and returned if applicable.
8.4. The Organiser may collect, store, process and use any personal information of entrants and/or other participants for communication, statistical and/or marketing purposes. By entering the Competition, you expressly consent to the aforesaid use.
8.5. In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Organiser will be final and binding and no correspondence and/or discussion will be entered into. in this regard and for further clarity, the Organiser shall be entitled to deal with such disputes (or any failure by participants to follow the rules) in their sole discretion, including that the Organiser shall be entitled, in addition to any other rights which the Organiser may have in terms of these Rules and/or the general competition rules, to immediately disqualify participants from the Competition.
8.6. By entering the Competition and/or accepting any prize, the entrants, users and/or winners hereby indemnify, release and hold harmless the Organiser (including its subsidiaries, holding companies and affiliates), its directors, employees, agents, suppliers and contractors (“Organiser Parties”) from and against any actions, claims and/or liability for injury, loss, damage, expense, claim and/or liability of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the Competition, and/or the use, acceptance or possession of a prize, and/or participation (or non-participation) in a prize-related activity.
8.7. The Organiser reserves the right to terminate the Competition at any time with immediate effect. If this is the case, the Organiser will provide a notice on the Website. It shall be the responsibility of entrants to review such Website in this respect. In such event, all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against any of the Organiser Parties and acknowledge that they will have no recourse or claim of any nature against the Organiser Parties
8.8. The Organiser is not liable for any technical failure that may result in an entry and/or audition not being successfully submitted and/or selected.
8.9. Any prize is accepted by a winner at his/her own risk and the Organiser is not liable, at any time, for any defect in the prize.
8.10. Where relevant:
8.10.1. if a winner does not accept or is deemed to not accept the prize as required herein;
8.10.2. if an entry is not valid for whatever reason;
8.10.3. if a winner has breached these Rules and/or the Contestant Participating Agreement and/or any other applicable rules;
8.10.4. if a winner renounces any prize and/or we deem such winner to have renounced any prize, we reserve the right to declare the prize forfeited and/or choose a new winner.
8.11. Nothing in these Rules is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the entrants or the Organisers in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008.
8.12. The duration of the Competition may also be extended or curtailed at the sole discretion of the Organiser. If this is the case, the Organiser will provide notice of this on the Website.
8.13. All Competition queries must be directed to 0860 11 75 33 between 08h00 to 16h30. Standard network rates apply. Free minutes do not apply all costs shall be for the account of the person who made the query.
