Rate this recipe:
    • 420 g (750 ml) brown bread flour
    • 7 ml salt
    • 10 g instant dry yeast
    • 50 ml Clover Mooi River Butter, melted
    • about 350 ml lukewarm Clover Fresh Full Cream Milk
    • 500 ml Clover Cheddar, grated
    • 50 ml fresh mixed herbs or 15 ml dried mixed herbs
    • 125 g smoked ham, cubed
    • 1 clove garlic, crushed

    Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.

    Add the wheat left behind in the sieve.

    Add the yeast and mix well.

    Add the butter and lukewarm milk and mix until a soft dough is formed.

    Turn out on a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.

    Place in a greased bowl and cover with cling wrap.

    Allow to rise for 20 minutes.

    Knock down and roll out into a rectangle of 30 x 35 cm.

    Sprinkle the cheese, herbs, ham and garlic over.

    Roll up from the short side.

    Holding the tips of the roll, turn into opposite directions.

    Place on a greased baking tray.

    Cut 6 slits into the top of the roll and allow to rest for 30 - 40 minutes.

    Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 40 minutes or until cooked.
